COLWELL John Gerald John Colwell, 64, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007, at UT Medical Center in Toledo after a courageous battle with renal failure and diabetes. He was preceded in death by parents, John J. and Geraldine K. (Krasny) Colwell. John was dubbed, "the walking encyclopedia" at Jones Jr. High. He also attended Libbey High School and graduated from Heidelberg College. John managed Doermann Theater at UT and then went to New York where he was House Manager of Alice Tully Hall and Assistant House Manager of Philharmonic Hall at Lincoln Center. He later discovered he loved bartending for private parties. Magic was a lifelong passion for John and he performed many magic shows. One of his favorite pleasures was doing tricks and "sleight of hand" for family and friends. John was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians. Surviving are brother, Alan; sisters, Kathy Kelley of Tucson and Michelle (Jeff) McIntire of Toledo; eight nieces and nephews and two great-nephews. Uncle John will be dearly missed.
